<p>1300336 Absorbent pad L'OREAL 23 June 1970 [24 June 1969] 30473/70 Heading A5R An absorbent pad, e.g. a sanitary towel, surgical dressing or baby's napkin liner, comprises a plurality of homogeneous spherical matrices 2 of absorbent material which are disposed within a permeable deformable bag 1 so as to be movable relative to one another and to be displaced so that the pad as a whole can adopt different shapes. The bag 1 containing balls 2 of absorbent material, can be produced from a knitted cotton fabric or a non- woven fabric, or be produced in the form of a net of sufficiently small mesh as not to allow the balls 2 to pass through. The balls 2 may be made of wood fibre, viscose, cellulose wadding or cotton. The bag 1 may be surrounded by a web 3 of absorbent material such as cotton fibres. In the case of a sanitary towel the lower face and the side faces of the web 3 may be covered with a web of hydrophobic cotton.</p> |
