PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a urethane compound, with which a compound having a cyclic carbonate group is made to efficiently react with an amine compound, and a urethane compound can be obtained with good yield.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a urethane compound in which under the presence of a heterocyclic compound that contains 1 to 3 hetero atoms in the ring and in which at least one of hetero atoms is a nitrogen atom, and satisfies the following requirement 1 or requirement 2, a compound expressed by formula (1) is reacted with a compound expressed by formula (2) to obtain a urethane compound expressed by formula (3). Requirement 1: pKa of conjugate acid of the heterocyclic compound is within a range of -1.5 to 4.
