Articles 6, Fig. 1, are loaded at 10 on to trays 2 travelling on overhead track 1 and their destination is noted by memory unit 11, the conveyer 4 being driven at 5 so that the tray discharges its article 6 automatically at any of the discharge stations 7 and 8. Each tray 2 is mounted in a frame 3 which is carried by attachment assemblies 39 and 40 which engage the track 1 by means of wheels 43, 44. The frame 3 also carries rollers 30 which engage between rails 35 and 36 to stabilize the position of the frame. Each tray 2 is discharged automatically at the appropriate station by the elevation of an arm 28 caused by the memory unit 11, the arm 28 engaging a lever 23 to release the latter from a lock 25, 26, and push the lever 23 upwards so that the tray tips about an axis 20 to discharge at the discharge station. Attachment assemblies 39 and 40, Fig. 3, are secured to links 4 of the driving chain of the conveyer, and each include a spherical bearing (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown) to permit additional adjustability in the movement of the frame 3.</p> |
