1355239 Poly (phosphazene) copolymers HORIZONS RESEARCH Inc 24 March 1972 [26 March 1971] 13844/72 Heading C3R A poly (phosphazine) copolymer has randomly distributed units of formulµ where A is F(CF 2 ) p CH 2 O- or H(CF 2 ) p CH 2 O-, p is from 1 to 9, B is RC 6 H 4 O- or RZC 6 H 4 O-, R is H(CH 2 ) q - or F(CH 2 ) q -, q is 0 to 5, Z is -CH 2 -, -O-, -NH- or -NR<SP>1</SP>-, R<SP>1</SP> is H(CH 2 ) q - or F(CF 2 ) q -, and the ratio A : B is between 1 : 9 and 3 : 1. The co-polymers are prepared by reacting mixtures of alkali metal salts of suitable fluorinated alcohols and of phenols with linear polymers of formula In examples copolymers are obtained wherein A is CF 3 CH 2 O-, F(CF 2 ) 3 CH 2 O- and H(CF 2 ) 6 CH 2 O- and B is C 6 H 5 O-, CH 3 OC 6 H 4 O-, (CH 3 ) 2 NC 6 H 4 O-, CF 3 C 6 H 4 O- and C 2 H 5 C 6 H 4 O-. Uses.-In the manufacture of seals, gaskets, adhesives and coatings for use at high temperatures. |
