In the appts. for fabricating monocrystals by zone melting as disclosed in the parent Application and having a lower support for the seed crystal consisting of a support tube provided with a centring piece on which a clamp for the seed is fixed by an extensible hydraulic system fed with hydraulic liquid provided in the interior of the tube, as well as the auxiliary support for the lower part of the growing monocrystal, the hydraulic system is a sealed bellows capable of elastic elongation, the interior space of which is filled with an incompressible liquid in communication with a reservoir which can be heated.
