<p>1326271 Copper based alloy INTERNATIONAL NICKEL Ltd 11 Nov 1970 [13 Nov 1969 (2)] 53707/70 Heading C7A A structural component used in contact with water which exhibits impingement attack on metals comprises, Cu balance Cr 0À2-1 Ni 14À5-37 Fe 0-1 Mn 0-3 C # 0À12 Co 0-3. The nickel and iron contents being so correlated as to lie within the hatched area in the figure Incidental impurities may include S, O, N, H, Ti, Al, Si and Zr# 0À5 Nb # 0À5 Be # 0À15 Ce # 0À1 Mg # 0À1. The alloy is in the wrought form when Ni<25% but when the chromium content is # 0À75% the alloy must be cast. Preferably the carbon content is <0À04% and the Ni 28-33 when the Fe is # 0À65%. The chromium content is preferably 0À25-0À75%. For a wrought component annealing below 1065‹C is carried out, preferably between 650-815‹C followed by air or water quenching. Cast components preferably have a chromium content # 0À5% and an impurity silicon content of <0À03%.</p> |
