Coloured images are produced on a flat synthetic material such as a synthetic fabric, plastic film or plastic-coated paper, by (a) placing the flat synthetic material in contact with a coloured original which has a coloured layer melting 220 degrees C, and contains dyes evapg. or subliming at 160-220 degrees C, (b) heating the dyes in the coloured layer to the evapn. or sublimation temp by means of a laser beam which is controlled by detecting the separate coloured parts of the coloured layer, and (c) transferring the evapd or sublimated dyes into the flat synthetic material. Rapid dry, accurate transfer of coloured images onto flat synthetic material is obtd, with no transfer of binder, thus ensuring tack-free transferred layers. |
