<p>Acetoacetic acid derivs, useful as inters for prodn of phosphate ester biocides, e.g. insecticides and acaricides, have formula CH3COCCl2CONR1CHO (I) (where R1 is 1-4C alkyl) and are prepd by (a) acetoacetylation of cpds R1NHCHO (II) with diketone in the presence of an Hg(II)-salt pref. Hg(II)-acetate, pref in glacial AcOH, to form CH3COCH2CONR1CHO (IA) and (b) chlorination of (IA) with sulphuryl chloride via CH3COCHClCONR1CHO (IB). Enol phosphate biocides, having formula (R2O)POOC(Me)=CClCONR1CHO (where R2 is 1-3C alkyl) are prepd by reacting (I) with trialkyl phosphites (R2O)3P.</p> |
