PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass melting furnace capable of protecting a portion of an electrode holder contacted with molten glass from corrosion due to the molten glass and operating the electrode holder at higher temperature.SOLUTION: An electrode holder (10) for glass melt furnaces comprises: an outer wall (12); an inner wall (14) forming a channel (20) for receiving an electrode; coolant passages (30 and 40) positioned between the outer wall and the inner wall and receiving the flow of a coolant; and a nose member (16) connecting the inner wall and the outer wall at a first end part of the electrode holder. The nose member has a fire-resistant barrier layer (46) deposited on the outer surface of the nose member, and the barrier layer is contacted with a molten glass material (48) in a furnace.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
