<p>1380501 Railway brake shoes ABEX CORP 15 March 1972 [15 March 1971] 12192/72 Heading F2E A railway brake shoe comprises a body of friction material consisting of a matrix composed of a binder comprising diene rubber and/ or thermosetting phenolic resin and a plurality of particles, which contribute wear resistance and the required level of friction coefficient to the body, dispersed in the matrix, an intermediate support layer moulded and vulcanized to the back of the friction body, and a metal backing united to the back of the support layer, said support layer consisting of a body of rubber containing reinforcing cords. In the construction described the reinforcing cords are constructed from glass fibres, natural fibres or synthetic fibres; the natural fibres can be cotton and the synthetic fibres can be rayon, nylon or a polyester. Various compositions of the body are given.</p> |
