This illumination device 12 is provided with: a light-source row 170 having centrally arranged center-side light sources 17A, the center-side light sources 17A emitting a primary light included in a prescribed wavelength region, and end-side light sources 17B arranged at both end sides of the center-side light source, the end-side light sources 17B emitting the primary light and an auxiliary-color light that exhibits a color having an auxiliary-color relationship to a reference color exhibited by the primary light; a light-guide plate 19 that faces the light-source row 170 and has a light incidence surface 19c on which light from the light sources 17A, 17B is incident, and a light emission surface 19a for emitting the light that was made incident from the light incidence surface 19c; and a wavelength conversion member 150 containing a first phosphor that is excited by the primary light, said first phosphor discharging a secondary light included in another wavelength region that differs from the wavelength region, the wavelength conversion member 150 being arranged so as to cover the light emission surface 19a, and the wavelength conversion member 150 transmitting a portion of the primary light and emitting surface light. |
