<p>1322319 Tundishes PROLIZENZ AG 19 April 1971 [15 April 1970] 26973/71 Heading F4B [Also in Division B3] For continuously casting strip (e.g. of Al or Al alloy 20 mm. thick and at least 1500 mm. wide), a machine has two endless, driven sets of articulated mould blocks 10 which sets cooperate to define between them a moving mould cavity, a tundish 12 with an outlet nozzle (20), a cooling system 24 (e.g. as described in Specification 1,186,466) and withdrawal means 25, all mounted on a tiltable frame 26 so that casting can be started with the mould cavity between 0 and 5 degrees to the horizontal, then when the leading end of the strip is formed, the machine can be set in motion and the casting continued with the cavity at a greater inclination, i.e. 4 degrees or more to the horizontal. The frame 26 is tilted by an hydraulic jack 29 which adjusts the height of a horizontal bearer 28. The angle of tilt may be as high as 45 degrees. A flexible channel 14 supplies the tundish 12 to maintain the melt level.</p> |
