1425056 Cleaning composition J M ELTZROTH & ASSOCIATES Inc 7 June 1973 [8 June 1972] 27237/73 Heading C5D Compositions which are useful for cleaning purposes are the product of reaction of boric acid, potassium hydroxide and an aliphatic carboxylic chelating agent in aqueous solution having a pH of at least 9À6 which is homogeneous and contains 40% to 60% by weight of dissolved solids and sufficient chelating agent to prevent flocculation at 20‹ C. both during storage and dilution with water, the molar ratio of boric acid as B 2 O 3 to potassium hydroxide as K 2 O being from 1 : 3 to 3 : 1 and the quantity of chelating agent being sufficient to inhibit precipitation. The chelating agent may be gluconic, tartaric, citric, oxalic, lactic, ethylene diamine tetraacetic, N-hydroxyethylethylene diamine triacetic or diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid or a salt thereof. The solutions may be diluted with water and used to clean metal surfaces. They may comprise anionic, non-ionic or amphoteric surfactants, de-oxidants, descalers and water-miscible organic solvents. |
