1. An apparatus for providing information, the apparatus comprising:
one or more processors; and one or more memories operatively coupled to at least one of the one or more processors and having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by at least one of the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to: identify a reference to an individual in a first electronic message of a first type displayed in a messaging interface for a communication system; provide a user interface element associated with the referenced individual; determine a messaging capability of the referenced individual for a second message type different from the first message type, wherein determining the messaging capability of the referenced individual comprises determining whether the referenced individual is subscribed to a messaging server for sending and receiving messages of the second message type; provide a capability indication corresponding to the determined messaging capability of the referenced individual; determine that the user interface element has been activated; and if it is determined that the referenced individual is subscribed to the messaging service for sending and receiving messages of the second type, provide a selection interface including one or more selectable options corresponding to a communication scheme of the second message type and recipient address information; and if it is determined that the referenced individual is not subscribed to the messaging service for sending and receiving messages of the second type, providing the selection interface including a selectable option to invite the referenced individual to subscribe to the messaging service for sending and receiving messages of the second type.
