Conductive strip material to be electroplated is guided in an arc of about 200 DEG about the insulating circumferential face of a wheel while electrolyte is discharged radially inward toward the strip from a tubular, semi-circular anode carrier through aligned apertures in the carrier and in a platinum anode strip on the carrier. Portions of the front side of the strip are protected from contact with the electrolyte by one or more tensioned, elastomeric masking bands moving with the strip and masking the strip edges. The bands hold the back of the strip engaged with a resilient insert in the wheel, thereby masking the back of the strip. |
