<p>1376413 Toy building bricks A FISCHER 28 April 1972 [3 May 1971 16 June 1971 (2)] 19782/72 Heading A6S [Also in Division E2] A toy building brick 1 or 1a, Fig. I, of cuboidal, viz., rectangular parallelopidal, shape, has at least two intersecting grooves 2 in each face each parallel to one of a pair of adjacent edges of the brick defining that face, each of the edges of the brick being provided with a groove 3 so dimensioned that when it is placed against an identical brick, adjoining edges of the two bricks, Fig. 2, form a groove 3 of identical cross-section to that of each of the grooves 2. Each groove 2 in the side faces has a slot 5 to receive a connecting element 4. In the form illustrated, each connecting element 4, Fig. 3, is made of a resilient plastics, is bevelled at its top and bottom ends 8, 9, is generally rectangular with a slightly bowed centre section, e.g. along a line IV..IV (see also Fig. 5, not illustrated), so as to grip frictionally the slots 5 into which it is pushed, and has V-shaped shoulders 7 on its sides to fit complementarily shaped recesses in the grooves 2. The bricks 1, 1a may be attached to bricks of another type having holes in their side faces for pin or dowel type fastenings, e.g. a connector 4', Fig. 6, having a generally flat end 14 to push into a slot 5 in a brick 1, &c and a cylindrical, slotted end 16 to push into a hole in a brick of the other type. A disk 15 between the flat end 14 and the cylindrical, slotted end 16 limits the depth of insertion into the respective slot 5 and hole. Another, similar, type of connector (4"), Fig. 8 (not shown), has two flat ends (14) for insertion in adjacent slots 5, joined by a bar (19) from the other side of which extends a single cylindrical, slotted pin (16). The cylindrical ends of the connectors allow angular adjustment of one brick relatively to the other.</p> |
