1488752 Beams or slabs J F LARSSEN 24 April 1975 [7 May 1974] 17064/75 Heading E1W An element for forming a beam or floor slab comprises a lower tension element 3 of channel configuration formed of sheet material and having laterally directed flanges 3a to which are secured an upper rigid surfacing compression sheet 4 of different material to that of the element 3. The elements 3, 4 are secured together at the flanges 3a by adhesive. The material of the element 3 may be steel or aluminium and of the element 4 plywood, plastics, asbestos or other cement or plaster. Insulating material 6 may be provided in the element 3. Intermediate metal panels 8 may be fixed between adjacent panels 4 to conceal ducting and to provide a contoured ceiling finish. |
