1356906 Rotary positive displacement pumps FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 19 Sept 1972 [8 Oct 1971] 43335/72 Heading F1F A rotary positive displacement pump in which roller pumping elements 36 engage a two-lobed cam 30, comprises combined pressure and port plates 48, 56 sealingly engaging opposite sides of the rotor 28 and cam 30, a spring 66 urging the plates and rotor and cam into sealing contact against a stop ring 52 in the housing 12. The pump has flow control valve means Fig.8 (not shown) and pressure relief means Fig.6 (not shown). Plate 56, Fig.5, has inlet ports 70, 72 and outlet ports 74, 76. The inlet ports 70, 72 communicate via ports in the cam 30 with an annular inlet pressure chamber 46 between the cam and housing wall, one such cam port being shown at 44 in Fig.1. Inlet ports 146, 148 in plate 48, Fig.10, similarly communicate with annular chamber 46. Outlet ports 150, 152 in plate 48 communicate via ports in the cam 30 with the outlet ports 74, 76 in plate 56 which in turn communicate with a high pressure discharge chamber 64 in housing 12 via passages 78, 80. Each port has raised lands, such as at 92, 94 for port 70 of plate 56, which ensure that the rollers 36 are always maintained in axial alignment with the rotor 28, i.e. do not project into the recesses when passing over them.
|
