<p>A water softener valve assembly for directing water flow for the softening of water and for the regeneration of the water softener tank. A housing has a pair of slidably mounted pistons which are movable to open and closed positions directing the flow of water. In the open position, the incoming hard water is directed to the soft water tank with a minimum length of travel and bends. Subsequent to the softening, the water is directed through the assembly and to the user. Various control valves are provided for directing brine into the water softener tank and for refilling the brine tank with water for regeneration of the water softener tank. During regeneration, the incoming hard water is directed through a bypass passage and immediately to the outlet in a hard condition preventing interruption of water flow to the user. Control valves are provided for controlling the movement of the pair of pistons.</p> |
