1438021 Coated bottles DART INDUSTRIES Inc 6 March 1973 [7 March 1972] 10701/73 Heading B6G [Also in Division B2] A bottle for carbonated or similarly pressurized liquids comprises: a pressurizable inner glass envelope wherein the ratio of the thickness of the bottom wall to the sidewall is from 2À5 : 1 to 1 : 2; and a partially adherent thermoplastic outer envelope having a thickness of 0À004 to 0À018 inches extending over substantially the entirety of the inner envelope except for the finish thereof, to prevent scatter of glass particles if the bottle breaks. The bottle is preferably adapted to break in its lower 30% portion. Polyethylene is mentioned as a suitable material for the thermoplastic outer envelope.
