<p>1403661 Container closures KONINKLIJKE EMBALLAGE INDUSTRIE VAN LEER BV 9 Jan 1973 [11 Jan 1972] 1090/73 Heading B8D A plastics lid 2 having an inverted channelshaped edge is secured to a plastics container 1 by the outer leg 3 of said edge which is welded to the container at a zone 4, the outer leg being provided with a severable groove-defined thinned portion 5 above the zone 4 to facilitate severance of the lid from the container. The lid may be severed by a tool having a gripping eye 8 and a cutting edge 11 formed on a transversely bent end portion 9, which terminates in a flattened head 10. The outer leg of the lid has one or more holes 6, Fig. 2 (not shown), aligned with the groove 5 through which the head may be passed. The outer leg may then be severed by drawing the tool around the container, the head being located by the groove. In a modification Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), the tool is fitted to the lid prior to the lid being attached to the container, the eye 13 being formed after the remainder of the strip forming the tool has been passed through a hole in the lid outer leg from the inside until the reduced, transversely bent blade portion 12 snaps into the hole. The tool is provided with a protuberance 14, which engages a guide rib 15 around the container during opening.</p> |
