The spaces between the tubes 1 and conductor 3, are packed with particles of metallic iron and magnetite of diameter 5-15 Á. To improve the ampere hour capacity of the electrode the ferrous particles are chemically plated with a permeable coating of nickel by immersing the electrode in a plating bath, the coating having a thickness of 5-10 Á. |
