Hexahydroindolo[2,3-a]quinolizine derivatives of the formula (I) are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula (II) with acrylonitrile. The base obtained in this way can, where appropriate, be converted by treatment with an acid into the corresponding salt. This salt can be treated with a relatively strong base in order to liberate the hexahydroindoloquinolizine base of the formula (Ib). The symbols used in the formulae have the meanings stated in Claim 1. The compounds are important starting materials for the preparation of, in particular, indoloquinolizine derivatives which have a vasodilator effect. <IMAGE> |
