<p>1380672 Making corrugated waveguides KABEL-UND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE AG 26 Feb 1973 [27 June 1972] 9300/73 Heading H1W In order to obtain uniform corrugation in the manufacture of an elliptical, corrugated waveguide, the shaping rollers 10, 11, which impart an elliptical section to the circular, corrugated tube 8, are driven at a speed determined by the draw-off speed from the corrugating device 7. To this end, the speed of the motor 14 driving roller 11, is regulated by a roller 15 which rides upon the tube 8 and responds to the degree of slackness in the tube. By this means a uniform draw-off speed may be obtained. The apparatus also includes means 3 for forming a metal strip 2 into a slit, circular tube, means 4 for welding the slit and means 5 for feeding the welded tube to the corrgating device. The corrugating device 7 imparts an axial rotation to the tube of between 30 and 60 degrees whereby the welded seam lies between the major and minor axes of the final elliptical cross-section.</p> |
