1444018 Photopolymerizable compositions FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 23 Aug 1973 [23 Aug 1972] 40111/73 Heading C3P [Also in Divisions C2 and G2] Photopolymerizable compositions comprise (a) at least one inorganic acid (including metal halide Lewis acids and phenols) salt of an indolinobenzospiropyran of the formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> is alkyl, substituted alkyl or phenyl, R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> each represent alkyl or phenyl or together represent a group -(-CH 2 -) n - where n is 4 or 5, X is H, nitro, halogen, carboxy, alkoxycarbonyl, alkyl or alkoxy, and Y is H or one or more substituents selected from nitro, halogen, formyl and alkoxy groups or atoms, and (b) at least one cation-polymerizable substance. Component (b) may be, for example, a compound containing one or more vinyl ether groups, a vinyl sulphide, N-vinyl carbazole or N-vinyl-pyrrolidone. Other components which may be included in the compositions include binders, sensitizing dyes, colourants, thickening agents, plasticizers, thermally fusible compounds, diluents and fillers. The compositions applied to a suitable support can be used for forming relief images for use in printing plates, or for photocopying applications.
