1447883 Brushless dynamoelectric machines WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 10 Sept 1973 [11 Sept 1972] 42423/73 Heading H2A The brushless dynamoelectric machine of Specification 1,418,996 is modified by providing each rectifier module 10 with two rectifier/ heat-sink assemblies 19, 20, 21, and also with two fuses 25, the rectifiers 19 being connected to a common conductive base member/terminal 11/12 and hence to an input lead 32 with opposite polarities. The modules are mounted on a wheel 40 having a hub 42 fixed on a rotating shaft 41 via an insulating layer 43, the modules being fixed to a rim 45 of a flange 44 of the wheel. The circuit for the module shown comprises a supply lead 53 (from an A.C. exciter 77, Fig. 6, not shown) the lead 32, the member 12/11, the (left-hand) heat sink 20, the rectifier 19, the heat sink 21, a lead 28, the fuse 25, the rim 45, the flange 44, the hub 42, a pair of connectors 59/58 and a stud 60 leading to a positive output conductor 63 arranged in a bore 62 of the shaft 41, and the return from a negative conductor 64 is via a stud 67, a pair of connectors 70, 71, a collector ring 68, a pair of connectors 72, 73, a segment 50, the fuse 25, a lead 28, the assembly 21, 19, 20 and so back to the lead 32 by way of the base 11/12. Modules may be paralleled as discussed with reference to Fig. 7 (not shown). |
