HIGH SPEED PRINTOUT SYSTEM

A printing system including a photoreceptive surface having a charge placed over an area of the surface. An optical means for selectively discharging portions of that area is employed to form a charge and discharge portion representative of an electrostatic latent image. The optical means includes an array of light emitting solid state devices with appropriate logic circuitry for selectively energizing certain elements of the array in order to form the electrostatic latent image. A suitable developing station for developing the electrostatic images is provided, as well as means for transferring the developed image to a support.
