Converter for solar energy into electric current - uses optical fibres, photoconductive tubes or rods with random photosensitive surfaces

The solar energy converter employes optical fibres, light conducting rods, tubes, or strips inside which or on their shells are provided radiation and photosensitive surfaces of random shape and numbers. Liquid, solid, or gaseous semiconductors and/or phosphorescent or luminescent substances are used as the photosensitive layer. The optical fibres or the other photo-elements are of such length and provided with reflectors at their ends, as to obtain a laser effect. The photosensitive surfaces may be transparent or reflecting, and the optical fibres and other photoelements may be electrically in series or parallel for multiplication of the current and generated voltage.
