<p>A multished loom has a rotary reed formed by a shaft on which disks sepg. the warp ends, are offset to one another along a spiral line, for propelling the shuttles carrying the weft. The projections on the disks which propel the shuttles and beat up the weft, are arranged relatively to each other in such a way that, during the working of the loom, the weft thread guided towards the edge of the fabric, runs steeply inclined towards it, whilst, behind the shuttle in the zone in front of the fabric edge, it runs straight. Parallel to the rotary reed, there is a guide for the weft built up from thin plates aligned to the disks of the reed. These form a comb with a channel for the passage of the shuttle. In the direction of rotation each reed disk has a succession, a projection for propelling the shuttle, a thread carrying slot, close behind this, a thread progressing flank joining on to the slot, a projection following this, which has the largest radius of the reed, and a shuttle supporting zone having the smallest radius of the reed, and extending round to the shuttle propelling flank. The angle between the thread carrying slot and the beating up projection is between 70 and 110 degrees. The relative positions of the rotary reed and the guides are such that, the shuttle rests with its long side turned away from the guide on the cylindrical section of the mantle of the reed. The normal saacing between the assumed straight line connection between the outlet and weft thread from a shuttle and the edge of the fabric on the one hand and the axis of rotation of the reed disks on the other, is smaller than the radius of the section supporting the shuttle. The shuttle cannot become trapped. No extra equipment is required to prevent faults since the disks do not leave the warp ends. There are no additional supports to cause excessive wear of the warp threads.</p> |
