1508099 Heat-treating Ni-base super alloys UNITED TECHNOLOGIES CORP 6 Sept 1976 [22 Sept 1975] 36873/76 Heading C7A Nickel-base super alloys having a gamma/gamma prime structure and localized regions of low melting eutectic together with coarse particles of gamma prime are initially heated at a temperature below, but within 100‹F of, the eutectic melting temperature for a time sufficient to raise that melting temperature above the solvus temperature of the gamma prime. The alloy is then solution treated between the solvus and the raised eutectic point for a time sufficient to dissolve substantially all of the gamme prime, and cooled at a rate sufficient to prevent deposition of coarse gamma prime. Exemplified alloys contain nominally 9% Cr, 10% Co, 2% Ti, 5% Al, 12À5% W, 0À11-0À15% C, 0-0À015% B, 1À5-2% Hf, 0-0À05% Zr, 0-1% Nb, balance Ni. |
