The digital magnetic compass comprises a pointer rotated at a constant speed about a vertical axis. Devices generate a first electric signal each time the pointer passes a mark at a certain position with respect to the given direction. Further devices generate a second electric signal when the pointer is in a certain position with respect to the terrestrial magnetic field. A constant frequency oscillator is provided. A pulse counter counts the oscillator pulses between the two electric signals. A device for the second electric signal generation consists of a soft iron bar rotating together with the pointer about the vertical axis, with respect to which it is eccentrically mounted. |
