<p>The piston for a vehicle hydraulic telescopic damper is mounted with its central bore over a turned down section (39) of a piston rod (40), until it sits firmly against a shoulder (41) on the piston rod. The turned down section of the piston rod is provided with a collar which can be forced round to form a rim (44) by a press tool. This secures the piston on the rod. In pistons as used in hydraulic telescopic dampers, the piston is provided with valve openings. This method of attaching the piston to the rod takes up little room and makes it possible to use a valve plate (48) of simple shape.</p> |
