A turning moment pick-off for drive systems is designed to be inserted in place of belt, drives, chains, or gears without constructional alterations to the system and whilst maintaining the existing dimensions. The pick-off is used to determine the torque on a drive shaft by measuring the tangential force whilst simultaneously eliminating the radial force value from the measurement. The drive shaft (7) is fitted with an interchangeable adaptor casing (6) with a push-on housing (2) and conical belt pulley (1) so that the housing can rotate relative to the casing. Roller bearings (11) acting on the casing (6) eliminate the radial force and the torque can be measured using strain gauge (DMS) on the torsion bar (4) connected to the casing.
|
