Collector has a long trough (1) with a parabolic shape. The internal surface of the trough has a highly reflective finish. A tube (3) with a blackened surface runs inside the trough along its focus and the liquid to be heated flows through this tube. Solar radiation (2) falling on the whole area of the trough is reflected onto the absorber. A large amount of radiation is thus concentrated on a small absorber surface so that a high temperature is obtained. The trough (1) is mounted on a lever arm (4) by means of which it can be turned so that its axis points directly at the sun. Several such troughs are arranged side by side to form a complete collector assembly.
