1520779 Drying fibrous mats EVANS PRODUCTS CO 31 Oct 1975 [18 Nov 1974] 45380/75 Heading F4G Excess liquid impregnant 13 is removed from a fibrous mat 12, e.g. of glass fibres, by subjecting the mat to a variable flow of air which is initially at a high velocity, e.g. between 1000 and 50 feet per second, and is rapidly, e.g. in 1 second, reduced to a low velocity, i.e. below 50 feet per second. The air may be blown as a jet through the mat, and/or, as shown, sucked through by devices 20, 21, see Figs. 3, 4 (not shown) connected through a tank 33 with a vacuum pump 34. The devices 20, 21 operate cyclically, e.g. every 4 seconds, and the mat 12, which is carried on a foraminous support 11, is passed to an oven 22. |
