The housing is for a roller on which a protective sheet, typically a sun awning, is wound, and comprises an oblong sleeve type housing with an opening on one side and end-plates for the roller bearings. The outside of the housing (1) has one or more protrusions (18-20) working in conjunction with a separate suspension bracket (2) fixed to the building wall. Each protrusion can be a lengthwise fin, while the bracket has portions (22, 24) to accommodate the fins, with detachable devices (27) holding them in place, typically clamps, screw bolts or wedges etc. The devices can also include spring mechanisms snapping into engagement.
