The garden implement has a switch for switching the electric drive motor on and off, which switch is constructed as a sensor switching unit in order to increase operating convenience and in order to avoid the occurrence of dangerous contact voltages in the vicinity of the operator handle. The sliding handle (10) of the garden implement has two electrodes (12, 14) lying one next to the other. The electrodes (12, 14) are connected to the switching unit (16) via electrical conductive connections inside the sliding handle (10). By bridging the electrodes (12, 14) with the hand when the sliding handle (10) is gripped, switching on of the motor is triggered, and switching off occurs automatically when letting go of the sliding handle. <IMAGE> |
