1436984 Automatic voltage regulation FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 14 Jan 1974 [29 Jan 1973] 01613/74 Heading G3X A regulated voltage is supplied to a load by a Zener diode and voltage divider. Variations in the regulated voltage caused by changes in the current through the Zener diode are compensated by connecting a resistor in series with the Zener diode. As shown, a load 28 in the form of a measuring thermistor on a vehicle is supplied from a battery 1 by a circuit including a Zener diode 10 and voltage divider 22, 24. With increasing current, the Zener voltage rises due to its effective internal resistance 20. The load voltage is compensated by choosing the value of a compensating resistor 30 equal to the internal resistance 20 multiplied by the voltage divider ratio. The load 28 is effectively connected across the terminals of a bridge circuit formed by the Zener diode 10, resistor 30 and voltage divider 22, 24.
|
