1492860 Discharging material from hoppers SOC ANON COCKERILL-OUGREE-PROVIDENCE ET ESPERANCE-LONGDOZ EN ABREGE COCKERILL 28 Aug 1975 [3 Sept 1974] 35506/75 Heading B8S [Also in Division B2] A device for distributing a metallic powder in a flame, such as that of a plasma torch 17, Fig. 3, comprises a plurality of powder injectors 9 arranged around the flame axis, each of the injectors being fed by a separate rotary distributer 4, Fig. 1, comprising a cylindrical drum with troughs 5 in its peripheral surface. Powder is fed into a hopper 14 having a cavity 2 associated with each distributer and when the distributer rotates in the direction X, powder is transferred into a corresponding discharge chamber 7 and thence through a pipe 8 to the corresponding injector 9. Gas under pressure is fed into the chamber 7 through a pipe 10 so that the powder passing into the chamber 7 is suspended in a gas stream. The outlets 12, Fig. 3, of the injectors 9 may all be situated at the same distance from the axis of the flame, or may be at different distances, especially when different powders are to be injected simultaneously; the injectors may be mounted so as to be movable to vary the distances of the injector outlets from the source of the flame. In Fig. 2 (not shown) four distributers 4 are mounted on a single rotatable shaft (6). The device may be used for coating a sheet metal with metallic powder.
|
