<p>Drilling ship comprising the bow with the bridge, servicing and accommodation space, the midship in which the drilling operation takes place, with rig, mud stores and handling, store and transporting equipment for the borehole pipes and risers, together with hydraulic and pneumatic installations for the boring operation, and finally, the stern with machine rooms, pump rooms, control rooms, switch-gear rooms etc. has both propelling screws in the bow and in the stern. There are screws which are reversible arranged in tunnels aligned transversely, and the forward propulsion screws are at the stern. Both the transverse screws and the propulsion screws are driven via transmission at right angles from motors vertically above them powered from outside, and the screws are installed in jet sleeves. The arrangement makes the driving shafts for the screws much more easily accessible, and the ship need not be designed around the propelling shafts. The jet sleeves improve the propelling action at low speeds.</p> |
