1500000 Buckles G L SCHNURMACHER 30 Dec 1974 [10 Jan 1974] 56064/74 Heading E2A [Also in Division F2] A strap-tensioning buckle is formed of a piece of wire bent to a double figure of '8', the free end 34, 34a of the strap passing under it and around the remote bar 36 and the looped other end 31 passing over the free end bar 36 and round the two bars 41, 42 where the wires cross over to form lever arms 43, 44. These lever arms are swung counter-clockwise to the position shown to tension the strap and have, hooks 46, 47 embracing the strap edges to hold them in the tight position. The arms are crossed over each other so that impact loads on the strap tend to tighten, rather than release, the grip of hooks 46, 47 on the strap. The wire may be of square section. The following abridgment is included in this series since the Specification was through an error, not allotted to this group. Reference to it will be found in the name index to this volume. |
