<p>1499338 Discharging liquids by gaseous pressure REVLON-REALISTIC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS Inc 24 Dec 1975 [4 April 1974] 20959/77 Divided out of 1499337 Heading F1R [Also in Division B8] A cap assembly for a bottle for supplying liquid and air to a spray dispenser (13), Fig, 1 (not shown), of the type described in Parent Specification 1499337 (see Division B1-2) comprises an annular cap 22 threadedly mounted on the bottle neck 23 and having an inwardly directed flange 24, a plug 43 mounted inside the neck and having a central spout 44 and an off-centre spout 551 communicating with and coaxial with a socket 57 in which is mounted a tube 54 which extends above the level of liquid in the bottle when the latter is inverted, and a rotatable fitting assembly mounted between the flange and the plug and having a central socket receiving the central spout 44, an annular recess 48 into which the off-centre spout 551 extends, and tubular inlet and outlets 51 and 49 each communicating with said annular recess 48. The fitting assembly comprises a first fitting 26 having an outwardly extending flange 27, an outer annular wall 28 which fits inside the neck 23 of the bottle and an inner annular wall 36 surrounding the spout 44, a second fitting 29 having an annular wall which fits inside the wall 28 of the first fitting, and an outwardly extending flange 31, and a third fitting 38 which fits inside the wall 36 of the first fitting and has a tubular outlet 46. O-ring seals 33 and 42 are received in annular spaces 32 and 41 respectively between the upper end of the wall 28 and the flange 31 and between the upper end of the third fitting 38 and a flange 39 at the upper end of the wall 36. In use, compressed air supplied to the inlet 51 from a supply line 52 passes into the annular recess 48 and thence through the spout 551 into the tube 54 so that air pressure above the liquid in the bottle causes liquid to be discharged through the spout 44 and the outlet 46. Air is discharged through the outlet 49, and tubes 47, 53 connected to the outlets 46 and 49 respectively convey liquid and air to the spray dispenser (13), Fig. 1 (not shown). The tubes 47, 53 and the air supply line 52 are confined within an elongated guide-member 58 attached to the first fitting 26 and the inverted bottle is mounted on a stand which includes a metal supporting tube 20 surrounding the cap assembly. The ends of the spouts 44 and 551 are coplanar with the mouth of the bottle so that a closure cap (512), Fig. 15 (not shown) can be fitted on the bottle in place of the cap 22 and the fitting assembly. Fig. 16 (not shown) depicts a device in which the tube 54 is replaced by a shorter closed tube (254) having a slit (261) which acts as a valve permitting flow of air into the bottle.</p> |
