In a multi-system large circular knitter, the upper drive with its spur gear is mounted on the plate of the slide box to interlock with the spur gear in the carrier ring. The upper hearing of the pattering drum is open on one side held by a stop. The neelde selection system is thus correctly aligned in operation, and the pattern drum is easily assembled and dismantled.
