A three dimensional puzzle consists of two cylindrical blocks. Each block has the same number of holes with their axes parallel to the block axis, but each hole is of a different depth. The blocks are joined together by rods with rounded ends which are a close fit in the holes and there are as many rods as there are holes in each block. The rods are of different lengths and so arranged that when the puzzle is correctly assembled each rod fits in the appropriate pair of holes. This is achieved when the sum of the depths of the mating holes is equal to the length of the rod. The blocks then abut each other without any gap between their end faces.
|
