<p>The transfer printing press brings a pattern support into contact with a strip of material, at the same time increasing the temperature and lowering the atmospheric pressure. Pressure is applied by two complementary matrices (1, 2) on opposite sides of the combination of support and strip, and each of the matrices has a union to a vacuum source. One of the matrices has a suitably distorting inner face (8) acting against the combination. Each of them can have a screen plate (4) on the inside face, while the distorting face is formed by an elastic membrane (8) resting on one of them. The support and strip can be placed between the two halves of a hollow vessel, pressure being lowered in both halves, that on the support side to a lesser degree.</p> |
