A furniture unit has a frame structure which comprises locking components used for joining the bars and corner pieces together in a rigid connection. The corner pieces and bars are pref. of tubular or trough, esp. channel-section, and are pref. injection moulded plastic components, while the locking components have a projection engaging in the opposite component. Ultrasonic or solvent welding may be used for joining the component parts and the wall panels to the frame.
