alpha -Amino-2-adamantylacetic acid is prepared from ethyl 2-adamantyl-2-cyanoacetate in two variants. In the first variant, an alkyl N-(adamantyl-2-cyanomethyl)carbamate or aralkyl N-(adamantyl-2-cyanomethyl)carbamate, which has been obtained from ethyl 2-adamantyl-2-cyanoacetate via 2-adamantylcyanoacetyl hydrazide, is hydrolysed. In the second variant, the potassium salt of 2-adamantylmalonic monoamide, which has been obtained from ethyl 2-adamantylcyanoacetate, is digested using sodium hypochlorite.
