Prepn. of a conc. aq. surfactant compsn. contg., as active ingredient, a mixt., (A), of >=2 non-homologous surfactants, each in >=5 wt. % concn., w.r.t. mixt. (A), comprises starting from an initial mixt. contg. >=1 component of the surfactant mixt. and also sufficient water, to keep the mixt. in liq. condition, and >=1 further surfactant component present as a precursor, (I), capable of being formed in aq. soln. by means of a reagent which causes no degradation of the other surfactants in mixt. (I) is liq. under the reaction conditions. At least one of these cpds. (I) is converted to the surfactant so that the finished compsn. is present in g-phase. The mixts. are easily obtd. in the G-phase.
