A cutting element for working partic. rocks but also metal, incorporates a supporting part in sintered carbide or similar hard material and a cutting part joined to the supporting part and made of polycrystalline diamond or equally super-hard material. The element is formed from a second of a shaped starting body which has a core zone made of the cutting material and an outer zone made of the hard material and surrounding the core zone as an envelope. The cutting element pref. forms a wedge-shapenvelope. The cutting element pref. forms a wedge-shaped section of the shaped starting body and has upper and lower faces parallel to one another. The cutting element is less expensive than existing elements, has greater possibilities of application, wears less rapidly because the dissipation of heat is better, and is more efficient. |
