An 8-cyl. 4-cycle I.C. engine having a carburettor ass'y(23), 8 duplicate main com- bustion chambers(14), 8 auxiliary combustion chambers(17), & 8 torch nozzles(19) each connecting 17 to 14, respectively, was composed of passage means (28,29) for delivering a lean mixture to all of 14 and venturi passage means(33,34,35) for delivering a rich mixture to all of 17. The cross sectional area of a venturi passage is smaller than 1,4 times cross sectional area of a torch nozzle.
